Honor Societies
National Honor Society
Concord's chapter of the National Honor Society is open to juniors and seniors with high GPAs. Students must show strengths in character, leadership and service. The National Honor Society meets once a month during the school year.
All NHS members volunteer after school in a peer tutoring program. Once a week, NHS volunteers offer homework help, essay editing help, or test review help. Members also complete 25 hours of community service during the year. They might do things like usher at a school concert, volunteer at an elementary school, or help with a park clean-up. Concord’s NHS also volunteers as a group at the Ronald McDonald House and the A. I. DuPont Hospital for children.
Students who are eligible are invited to complete an information form to apply. It will be reviewed by a faculty committee. Incoming members will be inducted at a ceremony held in late spring.

Science National Honor Society
Science National Honor Society (SNHS) is an organization working to create a new group of young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration. The Concord Chapter of SNHS consists of juniors and seniors who are strong students in science and are willing to volunteer in science related activities.
At the beginning of each school year, all juniors and seniors enrolled in an AP science course are invited to apply for SNHS membership. Students must hold a cumulative 3.9 GPA in science related courses. Once accepted, students commit to volunteer in some capacity within a science related area. New members of SNHS are inducted at a ceremony each year held around Thanksgiving.
One of SNHS’s responsibilities is to hold Science Club meetings. Weekly meetings are held over lunch to discuss science topics. Topics may include subjects like nuclear power, fuel cells, anti-matter, parallel universes and gene testing. Anyone in the school is welcome to attend Science Club. SNHS invites guest speakers to present on interesting science topics.
The Concord Science National Honor Society is proud to be a part of the community. SHNS members volunteer at the annual Invention Convention at Hagley Museum held in January. They help children learn about science through hands-on experience. The children get to take apart household appliances, build their own ‘inventions’, and patent them.
SNHS is also the sponsor and host of Concord’s annual Science Expo. SNHS members welcome visitors to the Expo and present science demonstrations for young children who attend.
Spanish National Honor Society
The Spanish National Honor Society honors students with a high level of skill in Spanish. Juniors who are taking Spanish IV Honors and seniors in Spanish V or AP Spanish V are invited. Those who have earned a final grade of an 'A' throughout their Spanish career are eligible. Students are inducted in April. Many members volunteer at a local elementary school with students of a Spanish-speaking background.
